Anti-bullying week 2012

by Anita on 18/11/2012

From the 19th – 23rd of November 2012, it is National Anti-bullying week. This year’s theme is -

We’re better without bullying!

We're better without bullying

Matty-boy and Percy the Pigeon would agree.

This would suit their message of-

‘If you are being bullied, please tell someone!’

Matty-boy and Percy help each other out, being a friend to one another – giving them the courage to share their story. When Matty-boy shares his story with a trusted adult, they are then able to put in place steps needed to work towards stopping the bullying.

So today I want to encourage you to share with someone, if you are being bullied.

Make this week, a time where change can happen in your life.

Find a person who you trust and tell them what is happening. Make today the day you share what has been hurting you. Charities such as Bullying Uk and Beat Bullying are there to help you through the process.

You are special and deserve to be treated with respect.

No one should have to put up with bullying.

Who can you be a friend to today?

Percy the Pigeon helped Matty-boy by standing by his side to help him tell an adult that he was being bullied.

If you have a website or blog, please add our special -’We’re better without bullying’ widget, the code can be found in the side bar.

Hi Anita,

I hope Anti-Bullying Week helps many people who are being bullied to talk to someone they can trust. It’s very sad that we have to have a week dedicated to this at all, but it’s good that the problems of bullying are highlighted, and that people like you are working so hard to make sure people who are suffering know there is great support and encouragement available for them.

Keep up the great work :-)

Hi Angela,

Many thanks for your comment. Yes, it is sad that we have to have a dedicated week to highlight the effects of bullying. The hope is that the message that there are people and organisations out there, who are there to help, will be shared with those who are suffering.

This is such a worthy endeavor! I was bullied as a kid, so I know firsthand that bullying can do profound and long-lasting damage to a child’s sense of worth. God bless you for doing this!
